The Price of Kissing

The Price of Kissing

...a true bargain at half the price.

Rumi says,
The price of kissing is your life.

Still my head will not
concede to love's great bargain,
recalling all the heartbreak
which comes from submission
to just a single kiss.

Love's early innocence
disguises the dubious covenant
as it destabilizes the fault lines
within my wary soul.

Yes it starts with a kiss,
then becomes an earthquake
turning rock to dust,
unleashing my rowdy love.

The Price of Kissing

I would love to kiss you.
The price of kissing is your life.

Now my loving is running toward my life shouting,
What a bargain, let's buy it.
