It’s All a Story
History changes,
like the story I told myself
about my divorce.
Stories have entry points,
and myriad exits.
They tilt and slant.
Some get stale.
Others are evergreen.
If you love a story,
get to know the teller.
This will reveal the hidden plots
and the story behind the story.
Stories get stacked.
Names and locations change.
Listeners often add
their own variations.
Maybe you’re like me.
I believed stories are for kids,
that adults live and create reality.
Not true.
It’s all a story.
This gift called consciousness
demands we tell our stories.
