We’ve Drifted Too Far

For those who breathe,
it all comes down
to a single breath –
                  our first,
                  and our last.

Nothing is more inspiring
than a new beginning.
So why don’t we find relief
in our imminent ending?

If all that exists between
first and last breaths
is endless toil –
striving, climbing, defending
– then where is there space
for the joy of simply being?

We’ve drifted too far
away from who we are,
and beyond any capacity
to imagine a better future for all.

Stop.

Let go.

Gravity is pulling us back to center.
Enjoy the space to breathe again.
There is no need to explain.
Our souls don’t want answers.
