Are We Going the Right Way?

Are we going the right way? 

There are countless paths
leading to a better place,
while others go nowhere.

Do not fear the path
that begins with a descent.
Going down is essential
before we can rise
to greet the sun.

We soon discover
the well-trodden path
is littered with bodies
and defeated spirits.

Sections of the path
we must travel alone.
Yet there will also be
ample and good company.

If we become lost,
then it’s okay to stop,
sit for a while and maybe
close our weary eyes.
That’s when our soul
must guide us further.

Storytellers assure us
the journey is the destination.
